Spring 2000
This month we would like to introduce you to two of our third year residents; Drs. Bryon Hirschman and David Larsen.Dr. Hirschman grew up in LeMars, Iowa. He received his Bachelors degree in mathematics, with minors in computer science and chemistry, and his Medical degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. During his undergraduate years he worked in the biochemistry lab, then took a year off before beginning medical school to manage the family sheep ranch, teach, and play the French Horn in the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra. His interests include horseback riding, ranching, and mostly spending time with his wife, Melora DeCock Hirschman and three children. Bryon will be finishing his residency training this summer and has accepted a job in Norfolk, Nebraska. It has been a pleasure working with him and we all wish Bryon the best of luck in Norfolk!
Dr. Larsen was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent two years in Holland and Belgium then graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in political science. Dave attended Medical School at the University of Utah, spending summers working as a white-water rafting guide on the Colorado and Salmon Rivers. In his free time Dave enjoys skiing, white-water rafting, and coaching youth basketball. Dave has been a terrific asset to our residency program. He is planning to return to Utah, and join a family practice group there, after graduation.
