DFM faculty members, Roger Shewmake, Ph.D. and Michael Tibbitts, MD have received word that their promotions have been approved. Both are now Full Professors!
Dr. Shewmake joined USDSM in the fall of 1991, as Education Coordinator and Associate Professor for the Department of Family Medicine, and received Tenure status in 1997.
Dr. Tibbitts joined USDSM in 1994 as an Associate Professor and became the Dean of Graduate Medical Education and DFM Faculty member in January 1999.
Congratulations to both of these fine professors!
Interviewing for Faculty
Department of Family Medicine faculty have been busy interviewing candidates for faculty positions at both the Rapid City and Sioux Falls campuses to address the increased teaching needs at both facilities.
Shewmake is Opening Speaker at Calcium Speaker
Dr. Roger Shewmake has been invited to be the opening speaker during the Calcium Summit 2000, which will be held April 11, 2000 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Summit, which is put on by the Midwest Dairy Council will be attended by nutrition scientists, educators, clinicians and food industry representatives.
Shewmake Attends ADA Meetings
Dr. Roger Shewmake represented the Nutrition Educators of Health Professionals at the annual House of Delegates Meetings in Washington, DC March 16-17, 2000. The HOD is the legislative body of the 70,000 members of the American Dietetic Association.
He also attended the American Dietetic Association's Public Policy Workshop Mary 18-20 in Washington, DC, as the Legislative Chair of Nutrition Educators of Health Professionals , a practice group of the ADA.
