Board Members Take on New Responsibilties

At the November meeting of the Board of Directors, members were asked to volunteer to take over some of the responsibilities that have been handled by the President, Executive Director, Newsletter Editor, and Education Committee Chair in the past.

Dr. Dan Reiffenberger will assume duties dealing with SDAFP News. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding this publication, please contact Dr. Reiffenberger. In addition, he may be contacting you with a request for you to write an article for the newsletter. Even if he doesn’t ask you to write, you may submit articles at any time.

Dr. Paul Amundson will be keeping an eye on legislative issues and keeping us informed of issues of importance to us.

Dr. Mike Elston will be in charge of student and resident members and issues specific to them.

Dr. Rich Kafka will be overseeing the Education component of our group. If you have ideas for topics or speakers, please contact Dr. Kafka, who will work with Dr. Fred Thanel, our CME Coordinator, to continue lining up quality speakers.

Dr. Dan Heinemann will take over the duties of the CME Chair until August. In addition to chairing the Education Committee, he will be responsible for reviewing applications for CME credit, which are reviewed and then sent on to AAFP headquarters.

Please feel free to contact any of your SDAFP Officers at any time about issues that concern you. We have discussed trying an "on-line chat with the board" but aren’t sure if our members are ready for that yet. Let us know!

Thanks to each of these officers who has taken on these extra duties!
