Plans for 2000 Winter Seminar Announced

The 2000 Black Hills Winter Ski Seminar will be held February 1-3 at the Spearfish Holiday Inn and Convention Center. You will recall the lovely new convention facilities in Spearfish, where our 1999 seminar was held.

Speakers are being finalized right now, but we are we know we’re having a couple really big name speakers join us!

Dr. G. Gayle Stephens, one of the true "Fathers of the Discipline of Family Practice" has agreed to present topics during the Medicine in the New Millennium module on Thursday morning, February 1. Joining him will be Dr. Joe Scherger, another big name in the FP circle.

Dr. Stephens is a renowned author and speaker. One of his best-known works is The Intellectual Basis of Family Practice. He was the director of the first Family Practice Residency Training Program in Witchita in the early 1960’s. He has served as the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Dr. Scherger is also a well-known author, having written chapters for books such as the newest Taylor’s Principles of Family Practice. He was the founding editor of Family Practice Management. He is the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of California Irvine.

Other planned modules for the Winter Seminar include Mental Health, Violence in Our Communities, Renal, and Arthritis. Watch for further details.

The Friday evening President’s Party will be a Beach Party, so set aside your shorts, sandals, and other beach-wear for that evening. Food and entertainment will be provided.

We know you’ll want to join your colleagues at this exciting seminar, so make your plans now…We’ll see you there!
