SDAFP to Install First Woman President at Summer Seminar

On July 30, 1999, Dr. Marlys Luebke will be installed as SDAFP’s First Woman President. She will serve for the 1999-2000 term, taking us into the new millennium.

Dr. Luebke was born and raised in Parkston, SD, graduating from the Parkston Public School as class valedictorian.

She received her undergraduate training at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Her third year of college was spent in Tubingen, West Germany, participating in the "Year Abroad Program". She graduated in 1981 with a BA in Biology and German.

She attended the University of South Dakota School of Medicine receiving her MD in 1986. Her residency training was completed in 1989 from the Sioux Falls Family Practice Residency.

She joined the Corsica Clinic after residency, and continues to practice there. She also sees patients in Armour.

Dr. Luebke joined the SDAFP in 1986 as a resident, and continues to be active. She has served on our committees, and has now been a member of the Board of Directors since 1995. She became a Diplomate in 1989, and will become a Fellow this fall in Orlando.

Dr. Luebke is married and has two children.

Come to the summer seminar to be witness to this history-making event, as Dr. Luebke is installed.

In addition, members will decide on a new Vice President, and a new Resident Board Member will be announced.
