Spring 1999

Summer Seminar to Be Held in Rapid City

The 1999 Black Hills Summer Seminar will be held July 29-31, 1999 at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn in Rapid City. Educational Modules include: Women’s Health, Rheumatology and Neurology. Optional workshops will be held on both Thursday and Friday afternoons.

SDAFP Committees will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, July 28.

Many special activities have been planned and you’ll want to take part in them. Following the committee meetings on Wednesday evening, we will hold a Welcome Reception in the atrium area of the hotel. This is a chance to visit and get caught up with your old friends.

A Family Hospitality Room will be available during "official seminar hours" each day. Thursday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. spouses are invited to a "Decorative Bow Making" class. No children please. On Friday morning, also at 9:30 a.m. a parent/child craft class will be held. Children are invited to come make a decorated visor, as a momento of their trip to Rapid City. There is no charge for either class.

Immediately following the last morning session, SDAFP members are asked to stick around for a short Annual Business Meeting. No lunch will be served, allowing for a shorter meeting, and an opportunity to eat lunch with your family.

Thursday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. we will hold our Exhibitor’s Social. This will be held in the Exhibit Area and families are invited to attend. Although this is not meant to replace your evening meal, food will be served.

On Friday, our Awards Luncheon and Installation of Officers will be held at 12:30 p.m. This is an adults-only event, but babysitters and lunch will be provided for the children.

Our Annual All-Member Event will be held Friday evening. Registrants and families are invited to meet at the Crazy Horse Monument for a meal and a fun evening. Artisans will be working, the shops and exhibits will be open, and who knows—maybe they’ll even be blasting!

Early Saturday morning, prior to the first session, our Annual Fun Run/Walk will take place. Bring your family for some early morning exercise.
